Hey there. I guess this is the spot where I’m supposed to introduce myself, so here it goes…
I’ve been involved in fitness and athletics for more than 20 years. I started as an athlete (softball, basketball, powerlifting, bodybuilding, roller derby and American football) then became a personal trainer and then a strength and conditioning coach. I’m also a licensed attorney, but please don’t hold that against me.
Certifications, Education and Experience
I hold certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the Titleist Performance Institute. I’m also currently pursuing my formal education with an end goal of a PhD in biomechanics.
Certifications and education are cool, but they don’t take the place of real world experience. Luckily, I have that covered too. I have been helping people from all walks of life, from stay at home moms to Olympic-level athletes, build better bodies for more than a decade. I can help you too!
Personal Stuff – Because I’m a Real Person, too
During my spare time I coach a roller derby team, watch a ton of rugby, kitesurf (badly), play with my two crazy adopted pitbulls, Hamish and Maggie Mae, and watch reruns of Star Trek: The Next Generation (Don’t laugh! The key to the meaning of life is somewhere to be found in that show, I’m SURE of it!). Oh, and I’m also learning how to play Irish tin whistle.
A lot of my friends call me Justass (pronounced “Justice”) which is short for my roller derby name, Justass of the Piece. This earns me some weird looks in public from time to time. I’m usually at the beach at sunrise, sitting in a big black and bright green jeep watching the sun come up to a soundtrack of celtic punk music.
Wow. I sorta feel like I just filled out an online dating profile. Here’s to hoping you don’t swipe left. 😉
